The information presented below is a guide to the format of the games played in 1981 in It's A Knockout and Jeux Sans Frontières and how points were awarded in each. West Germany's decision to drop out of Jeux Sans Frontières from this season causes the scoring system to change for the first time since 1979. It's A Championship Knockout, also reduced to seven competing teams, follows suit. Meanwhile, It's A Celebrity Knockout draws to a close with the unusual distinction of having changed its scoring system and game format every year since it started in 1975!
