English Translation: The municipalities of Tinos, Zakynthos, Skiathos, Chania, Agrinio, Leros, Patra, Xanthi and Edessa represent our country at this year's series of Jeux Sans Frontières, one of the most popular series not only in Greece (on ET1, every Saturday, 17.10), but also in every European country that takes part.

Τhe Spectacular Production That Unites Europe: Greece is taking part in JSF for the fifth year in at row, and the interest of viewers of all ages from all over the country made the series the top entertainment programme in the TV ratings.

In 1997-98, eight countries are taking part in JSF, with France and the Netherlands joining for the first time (sic). Delegates from France 2 and Tros said that the big success across Europe and the high quality of the series in 1996 convinced the two channels to take part in the co-production, despite the high costs involved. The other six countries are: Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Slovenia and, of course, Greece.

This summer, the 'games' have been organised by Hungarian TV in Budapest. MTV, in co-operation with organizing committee of the EBU (of which the tv channels taking part in the co-production are members), has produced ten programmes with an international flavour of one hour and thirty minutes each. In every heat, presenters from each country commentate in their native language. The shows from avant garde artists and young acrobats of the National Academy of Budapest are the surprise of this year's JSF.

As in previous years, the protagonists in the games are young boys and girls who are coming from eight countries to play for fun and rivalry. The Greek games are made from choreographer, Sofia Spyratos, and the scenery constructions and costumes are from Spyros Ornerakis. For Greece and ET1, Daphne Bokota and Kostas Sgontzos are presenting. Our country is represented by the municipalities of Tinos, Zakynthos (community of Katastari), Skiathos, Chania, Agrinio, Leros, Patra, Xanthi and Edessa.

It is true that young people embraced JSF with enthusiasm, and the proof is that there were more applications this year than in every other in the past. ET1 is already accepting applications for the next series in 1998. The production team of ET1 are: Lena Choida, Marianna Rozaki and Athina Ninou. Responsible for co-ordination of municipalities - ET1-EBU: Irene Gavala-Chardalia. Directors: Christos Rallis and George Dabasis.
