Text in report: "These are just some of 10,000
people who packed into the Quarry on Sunday to see Shrewsbury thrash
Chester 14-5 in the B.B.C. 'It's a Knockout' competition. Many more saw it
screened on Wednesday night.
Much of the credit for the Shrewsbury win goes to team
manager, Stuart Lister, pictured being chaired left. Now the town meets
European teams in Edinburgh.
Hero of the Shrewsbury team was Ruth Elock (sic)
from Bayston Hill who trounced Chester on the 'joker' game. She is
pictured in action below left. The men are shown in action in an earlier
round below right. (pictures are missing from our scan - Ed).
Stuart Lister commented: 'The result was the reward for a
team, plus reserves, that has really put a lot of hard work, continuous
practice and effort into it,' he said. He also paid tribute to people who
had worked behind the scenes with training and organising the team." |
