Did You Know?
The BBC decided to opt out of the live broadcast, instead recording the live
feed from the Eurovision Network on Wednesday 26th July 1967 and airing it on
BBC1 the following night. This broadcast was divided into two parts in Britain
only. |
|
Did You Also Know?
The Italian team were hopeless at a water-polo game in rehearsals, but they
craftily replaced their rehearsal line-up with six, well-built athletes who
just happened to be from Italy's international water-polo team! Suffice it to
say, the Italian team won the water-polo game easily in the transmitted
programme! |

Did You Know?
13 million viewers in Great Britain watched this JSF international final. The
winning team from Bardenburg won the grand prize of £4,000 in addition to the
JSF Trophy.
Why Did British Teams Disappoint in 1967? It appears that in their
first year in European competition, the fact that the other teams trained for
the events came as something of a surprise to the British teams. E. Wakefield
of Durham City wrote in Radio Times magazine: "Britain was the only
team which didn't train, and this is why almost every British team was
disgraced. I look forward to the next series, which I hope will contain more
competitive British teams." (Radio Times 'Points from the Post', October
19th 1967) |
