Each It's A Knockout competition now involves three teams. The BBC produces the first It's A Celebrity Knockout.

Producer Barney Colehan steps down after ten years with the series. Winning teams from the It's A Knockout heats now compete for the Knockout Trophy in It's A Championship Knockout.

A year in Jeux Sans Frontières  that British teams in Europe might want to forget. 1977 ended with a Christmas special from Aviemore, Scotland.

Series Guide: 1978
Notable in 1978 was the unusual It's A Miners' Knockout, where miners from England, Scotland and Wales battled it out for a trophy presented by future Knockout presenter, Keith Chegwin.

It's A Knockout and Jeux Sans Frontières round off a decade which undoubtedly saw it at the height of its popularity. And a pretty good year for British teams, too.

Series Guide: 1981
Eddie Waring's last year with It's A Knockout before retiring. Some marvellous costumes this year, including the Wasbees (half wasp, half bee) and the Budgies.

Series Guide: 1982
It's A Knockout and Jeux Sans Frontières come to the end of the line as full series (JSF would return six years later, but without British competitors). The 1982 domestic heats all feature guest presenters to host the marathon.

Series Guide: 1983-1987
Although It's A Knockout ended as a regular series in 1982, there were several one-off special programmes made in the later 1980s. These included The Grand Knockout Tournament, featuring members of the British Royal Family.
