1980

THE GOODIES: POLITICS (Season 8, Episode 1)

BBC2 Transmission: Monday 14th January 1980, 8.10-8.40pm
Programme Number: not known

Notes:

The Goodies: Guerre Sans Frontières LogoOpening episode of the 8th series of The Goodies, the comedy sitcom starring Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Bill Oddie. Graeme has a difficult assignment: to 'sell' to the public two candidates for Prime Minister following parliament's abandonment of the country. Ordinarily this would be difficult. In this instance it's even tougher, since the candidates are Bill as Che Monyou (geddit?) and Tim as Evita-like Timita. Ultimately, they are forced to set up as a coalition government - and an uncomfortable one at that - but things go from bad to worse when they challenge other European countries to a deadly and destructive competition, Guerre Sans Frontières (War Without Frontiers).
